Director of SEO (Fully Remote)

Job description

Optimal is a leading online publisher of higher education and online learning. We use data to help people make better decisions about their higher education and their careers. We are currently looking for a Director of SEO to help lead our overall SEO strategies. The ideal candidate will have successfully led the effort to increase organic traffic and search rankings of a large, consumer-focused web brand. This position will report directly to the CEO.


SEO Director Responsibilities:

  • Create and oversee organic search strategy for the company

  • Manage all campaigns, analyze performance, and present campaign results to executive team

  • Work cross-departmentally with media and analytics teams to extract insights to drive KPIs and set organizational and content priorities

  • Stay up-to-date with industry changes, innovations and trends

  • Lead monthly brainstorm sessions introducing new tactics

  • Manage SEO driven A/B tests and analyze outcomes

Requirements

  • 7+ years of work experience in organic SEO strategy

  • Experience in the Google Suite of Products (ie: Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, Google Data Studio, Google Optimize)

  • Experience working on SEO strategies for a large scale consumer-oriented web brand

  • Knowledge of organic search tools

  • Understanding of the relationship between organic search and traditional + digital media channels

Our waterfront office is located in downtown Kirkland, WA. Prior to COVID, we kept our kitchen fully stocked, played ping pong and pool, built an impressive collection of board games, and loved interacting with our troop of quirky office dogs. We are working remotely during COVID but continue to find ways to support one another through online activities, such as small group lunches, themed happy hours, and social Slack channels. We've even had a few masked-up outdoor gatherings for frisbee golf and apple picking. And yes, those quirky dogs—and now cats!—make occasional virtual appearances. We have opened all positions to be fully remote, so if and when the local team returns to the office, you can join us from anywhere virtually.
